Christina Hansen Cohen, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist and principal of Hansen Cohen Associates in Psychology. Her clinical work spans both hospital settings as well as private practice, and has included individual, family, and group psychotherapy, as well as psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Hansen has received specialized training in pediatric psychology, health psychology, neuropsychological evaluation, family law and trauma therapy, including EMDR. She frequently researches and presents on Anxiety, ADHD, trauma, mental health in general and family law matters. She also has experience working with marginalized communities.
Dr. Hansen received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Minnesota School of Professional Psychology/Argosy University, with an emphasis in Child Psychology and Health Psychology. Her coursework is from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. Her clinical internship was at Palos Behavioral Health Professionals, in the Chicago area, where she received training in individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and psychological assessment of children, adults and older adults. Dr. Hansen’s professional interests are psychotherapy with children and families, psychoeducational assessments, neuropsychological evaluations as well as paternity, divorce and post-divorce family problems. She has been identified as an expert in court regarding family law issues, child development, domestic violence, and alienation. Dr. Hansen has testified 100’s of times in the Florida Court System and is well versed in family law issues with over 10 years of experience. She is a certified Family Court Mediator and enjoys working with families to solve the dilemmas of time sharing issues. She also works as an expert consultant on cases involving family law, criminal and dependency issues to help prepare the client and attorney for trial.
Dr. Hansen is active in the Fort Myers community and has served on several boards and committees. She currently sits on the board of Temple Judea Preschool and is involved in Sanibel School PTA. She is a past President of the Association of Family Law Professionals in Fort Myers. She was also secretary for the local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). She is involved in the Florida Bar, Family Law Section. Dr. Hansen also dedicates her time, talent, and treasure to several local charities, including Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), Autism Speaks and Habitat for Humanity, to name a few. In the past, she served on the board of the Family Resource Center of SW Florida and volunteered in Community Cooperative Ministries Inc.'s preschool program.
